Why I’m running.
I’m a Democrat running for State Representative for House District 127 because I believe in the strength of community and the power of opportunity to change lives. From facing a 50-foot pine tree on my roof during Hurricane Harvey—where neighbors showed up unasked to help—to advocating for my son in his math special education IEP meetings and witnessing how inequities impact others.
I’ve learned resilience and the value of standing together. I’ve fought for students who deserve fair chances and for teachers who needed someone in their corner. Now, I’m ready to take that fight to the state level.

I’ll work tirelessly to create policies that foster resilience—safer neighborhoods, affordable housing, and expanded access to healthcare—so our communities can weather any storm.

Her Story: She Stood Up When It Mattered
When the state-imposed New Education System (NES) began breaking the law — ignoringspecial education protections, bilingual education requirements, and the IEP mandates our children depend on — Michelle refused to look away. She reported it. For speaking the truth, HISD moved to fire her. An independent hearing examiner found no good cause for her termination, yet the Board of Managers overruled that finding. She was put up for termination twice. She beat the district twice.That experience didn’t break her. It called her forward — to fight for our kids on a bigger stage, where the decisions that shape their futures are made.Why This Moment Matters
Michelle is only the second Democrat to run in HD127 in 12 years — and this district is ready for change. As a proud surrogate for Gina Hinojosa, she stands with a growing movement to protect public education and put families back at the center of our politics.
